Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture, where Cape Iioka Gyobu is located, is the birthplace of the father of Tetsuya Chiba, the author of the manga ″Tomorrow’s Joe.” After World War II, Tetsuya Chiba’s family returned from Mukden, Manchukuo, China, and lived in the former Iioka town for just one year. Tetsuya Chiba’s masterpiece from her days as a girls’ manga artist, “The Sea Calling Yuka,” is set in the former Iioka Town and Iioka Sea.

The reason Asahi City, Chiba Prefecture entered into a friendship city agreement with Nakagusuku Village, Okinawa Prefecture, was because the ″Okinawa Prefecture Exchange Project” was carried out in 1998 under the jurisdiction of the former Iioka Town Board of Education. ❹The westernmost tip of Byobugaura (National Natural Monument)

If you take the train, there is no direct connection to Iioka Gyobumisaki Observatory. Get off at Asahi Station on the JR Sobu Main Line, take a bus bound for Choshi (20 minutes), get off at Todai Iriguchi bus stop, and walk 10 minutes to Cape Iioka Gyobu.
