① 【Ubara Utopia】 Spectacular view spot in Katsuura!! ︎

❶The origin of the name Ubara Utopia.
WealthThe origin of the name Ubara is that there was a plan to build a villa in this area at the end of the Taisho era, and from there Ubara came to be called “Utopia”. It was Mr. Sugihisa Goto, the head of Ubarakan at the time, who named it Ubara Utopia. Mr. Goto Sugihisa named it Ubara Utopia because the ria coastline around Cape Myojin has a warm climate, beautiful scenery, and rich nature, making it an “ideal village.” By the way, UbaraKan is a long-established inn that has been in business for over 100 years, located in a quasi-national park on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture. Ubarakan still stands on a hill in the Ubara Utopia.
❷What are the characteristics of Ubara Utopia?
WealthUtopia is characterized by its wonderful location and scenic beauty. You can watch the powerful sunrise over the Pacific Ocean, relax in unspoiled nature, and hike through the rugged, rugged terrain. For this reason, the Ubara utopia was loved by Japanese intellectuals to the extent that poet Akiko Yosano and others visited it, and wrote 79 poems there. The ria-style coastline with sheer cliffs overlooks the beautiful ocean and is the best tourist spot where you can forget about everyday life.
❸It is also said to be a haunted spot.
Ubara Ubara is also a ″haunted spot” where many psychic phenomena are rumored. I didn’t really feel anything when I visited, but there is a mysterious atmosphere due to the fact that you have to pass through a tunnel to reach Ubara Utopia and the unique topography. I think this is why it is called a haunted spot. I think every place has aspects like this, so why not visit without worrying?
➁【Katsuura Marine Park】 It’s like an underwater fortress! ︎ Natural aquarium!!
Katsuura Marine Park is a marine park located in Yoshio, Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture. The area is 14.5ha, which is about 3.1 times the size of Tokyo Dome. Katsuura Marine Park has facilities such as an underwater observation tower and a marine museum. In June 1974, it was designated as the 40th marine park in Japan.

It is the largest in the East, with a height of 24.4m and a depth of 8m. Its unique feature is that when you go down a long spiral staircase, you will find an underwater aquarium with 24 windows that allow you to see into the sea of Katsuura. ❷Sea Museum.
A marine museum is a museum that constantly exhibits specimens of sea creatures. It opened in March 1999 as a branch of the Chiba Prefectural Central Museum. There is a “Permanent Exhibition” that comprehensively introduces the marine nature of the Boso Peninsula, and a “Training Room” that shows a “Maritime Cinema” video introducing sea creatures.
