This waterfall is one of the representative waterfalls of Norikuradake in Nagano Prefecture, and there is a legend that a fisherman named Zengoro was found by being drawn into a giant fish.
A beautiful waterfall 21m high and 8m wide with water flowing in parallel. Because it faces the east, rainbows often appear during the morning sun.
And this waterfall is famous as a spot where you can see a splendid ice cascade in winter, and this time I visited here to see it.

▲It passes through a forest of beech trees that matches the snow landscape. I think the bear is sleeping in winter now, but a bear avoidance bell was attached.

There was a really stunning ice cascade! ! ! ! The ice wall is quite thick, and the ice wall with a width of 20m and a height of 8 or more stands out and is very powerful! !
Some people ice climb, and this year (2017) seems to have a reputation for having a good ice cascade. I thought the power of nature was amazing! ! It is more powerful when viewed from directly below.
When you visit here, be careful because you don’t know the boundary between snow and ice and your feet are slippery. The situation is likely to be different from this blog, so be careful not to fall into dangerous areas.

There are many 1m-class huge icicles in various shapes. That’s exactly the ice art created by nature … I was impressed with the beauty of the scale far beyond my imagination! !
Access to Zengoro Falls
About 1 hour by car from Matsumoto Station.
There are about 13 parking lots.
You can see a superb view of the ice cascade in winter, but I think you need equipment such as snowshoes and trekking shoes.
At other times, you can see a beautiful waterfall where water falls regularly in parallel.
And you can see a rainbow in the morning! !
There are ski resorts and hot springs nearby, so it is suitable for sightseeing.
