“Mt. Amari” 1700m above sea level!! Yamanashi Prefecture’s best night view spot.
Mt. Amari is a mountain with an altitude of about 1,731m on the border between Nirasaki City in Yamanashi Prefecture and Minami Alps City.
You can drive up to an altitude of about 1,700m, and you can walk from the parking space to a viewing spot overlooking the Kofu Basin in about 5 minutes.
By the way, the Kofu Basin refers to areas such as Kofu City, Nirasaki City, and Minami Alps City.
On sunny days, you can see a large panoramic view of Mt. Fuji.
The road is also paved, so if you are used to driving, you should be able to reach it by car without any problems.
About 150,000 Rhododendron azaleas bloom from early to mid-June, dyeing the entire mountaintop area red. That time of year seems to be the busiest.
It is also famous as a sea of clouds spot and a night view spot, and it is easily accessible by car, so not only photographers but also many tourists visit.
Radiative cooling is likely to occur in the basin directly below Mt. Amari, making it a sea of clouds observation spot.
If you are lucky, you may be able to take a picture of Mt. Fuji floating in the sea of clouds.
Precautions when watching the night view
It’s a short walk to the view spot, but there are no streetlights and it’s pitch black, so a flashlight is essential. Cross the road from the parking space and you will see a lodge called “TsutsuziTei”.
The road is on the left side of the lodge. The trail is separated by a rope, and there is a hut on the left. If you go a little further, it is a night view spot.
If you go to the right, you will enter the mountain trail to the summit, so be careful.
It’s scary to walk on a pitch-black mountain road without streetlights, but you can reach it in about 5 minutes on foot. Because it is a popular night view spot, there may be other people visiting.
I visited alone and stayed until morning, but there were a few other people so I was able to take pictures without being afraid of the dark.
You probably won’t regret visiting. It’s a beautiful night view that looks just like jewels.
However, when I visited in August, the temperature was 17°C. So you need a jacket even in midsummer.
In addition, traffic will be closed due to freezing from around November. In addition, there are many reports of bear sightings, so it is a good idea to check the local information before visiting.
