Currently, two Ogura bridges, a new one and an old one, span the Sagami River in Midori Ward, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The place where it is hanging is right next door. The reason for building the new Ogura Bridge is that the old Ogura Bridge only had one lane and cars could not separate from each other.

When the Old Ogura Bridge opened in 1938, it was built for people to cross. However, as society becomes increasingly driven by cars, it is not possible to separate from each other on the old Kokura Bridge, causing congestion. Therefore, on March 6, 2004, the new wide Ogura Bridge, with two lanes on each side and pedestrian walkways on both sides, was opened.
