“Umihotaru” A scenic service area floating on the sea‼︎
Umihotaru is an artificial island floating in Tokyo Bay.
From Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture to Kisarazu in Chiba Prefecture.
It is a highway that connects and crosses Tokyo Bay.
The expressway is called “Aqua Line”, and this is a parking area in the middle of the Aqua Line.
It is a marine parking area that is unique in the world, and is designed in the image of a luxury cruise ship with a width of 100m and a length of 650m.
This place has an observation deck, local gourmet food, a footbath, a dock run, etc., and the scale exceeds the parking area, and “Umihotaru” itself is a famous tourist destination.
Also, since it is an artificial island, you can enjoy a 360° view of Tokyo Bay.
The night view is also very beautiful, and the night view from this place is designated as a night view heritage of Japan.
It is a popular spot for dating and driving, and more than 7.5 million people visit annually.

Overview of Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line.
The Aqualine took 36 years from conception to completion, and opened on December 18, 1997.
It seems that the total project cost is 1,482.3 billion yen.
It has a total length of 15.1 km and can be reached in 15 minutes without traffic.
About 9.5 km from Kawasaki is a tunnel that runs under the sea, and 4.4 km from Kisarazu is a bridge.
There are two artificial islands in the Aqua Line, one is called “Umihotaru” and the other is called “Kazeno Tower” which was created for air circulation in the tunnel.
It seems that “Kazeno Tower” can rarely be entered even by those involved, but it seems that tour events are held regularly.
